Goddess of: Artemis is the goddess of the Moon, hunting, the wilderness, wild animals, childbirth, virginity, young girls, and bringing/relieving disease in women.
Realm/Home: Though her true home lies in Mount Olympus, she prefers to keep a home in the mountains and forests of Earth.
Gender: Female
Physical Description: In both her Goddess and Earthen forms, Artemis is a strikingly beautiful young virgin with pale skin and a thin but lean and fragile frame. Upon her Earthen home, she possesses a head of soft chestnut brown locks that cascade to a length past her waist. Her smooth cerulean orbs serve as her tools of most deadly accuracy along with her acute patience and lethal skill. The Huntress clothes herself in proper hunting attire - a knee length white tunic with a waist sash, natural hued arm and/or leg guards, and the simplest and quietest of sandals that wrap in smooth golden crosses up the length of her forelegs.
Very little about her appearance is altered once she enters her divine home of Mount Olympus, but the few changes that do occur include her hair changing in color to platinum silver locks and her eyes becoming more dazzling as if the shimmer of the moon itself persists within her soft sapphire gaze.
So young and innocent is this huntress' visage that many a male has taken a fancy to her purely beautiful looks alone. But be warned: Artemis accepts the love of no man.
Personal Description: Artemis is the daughter of Zeus and Leto, and the twin sister of Apollo. She is a huntress, and thus is rarely seen without her stunning white carved bow and arrows. When she was younger, Artemis would cling dearly to her father. At the age of three while sitting upon her father's knee, she asked six wishes of him that would set the code for her immortal life. These wishes were:
In addition to these wishes, Artemis wanted no city to be dedicated to her, but instead, she wished to rule over the wilderness and the animals that she cared for so dearly. However, it was not only her affection for the wild that drove the Huntress from her Olympian home, for she had been beaten and mistreated by her father's wife, Hera.
As a virgin, Artemis takes great love and care to protecting young girls. She keeps under her watch a tribe of immortal teen girls who chose to specifically follow her ways. Any man that tries to woo this dangerous female will find himself turned into an animal of prey and hunted down by Artemis and her maidens. The only man to ever keep Artemis' heart was her faithful hunting companion, Orion, who was killed mysteriously by, as rumor states, Gaia or Artemis herself.
In addition to her maidens, Artemis travels with six female and six male hounds. These hounds serve as her close companions during a hunt and often share in her glory of the kill. They were gifts from the forest God, Pan, along with six golden horned deer that pull her chariot at night.
She is remarked to be brave and true to her word. Artemis has yet to break her streak of virginity and care for the natural world. Her bravery was most boldly proven in her many victorious battles and her single-handed approach to Hephaestus and the Cyclops when first asking for her bow as a young child.
Traits/Habits: Artemis is not entirely fond of the male species in general. She finds them distrustful and horrid beings who seek nothing but pleasure out of women. She treats most females with a gentle and friendly nature, with the exception of the abusive Hera, and tends to have a sour attitude toward all males except her father and twin brother, who she loves dearly.
As a Huntress and a warrior, she is not afraid to defend herself and her title in a fight. Artemis places her view on virginity and respect for the female race in high regard. She will not tolerate any word against either subject.

Why should you get the character?: Artemis has always been my favorite Goddess. I was named after the purity that she values and have based many of my favorite roleplay characters off of her aspects. I have done school reports on her as well as many hours of independent study. To roleplay her myself would be nothing short of an honor.
Sample Roleplay:
The forest at night was a stunning sight. The dark blanket of the sky was littered with millions of glistening stars, although trumped as usual by the silver radiance of the moon among them. The subtle noises of nocturnal creatures stirred within the woodland expanse, their harmony interrupted only by the tranquil breeze that rustled the many leaves in the branches. Silent as sky north of her and striking as the lunar orb that she represented, the Goddess of the Hunt patrolled her wild home and observed the natural beauty that she had fallen in love with.
Her guise remained undistributed until a faint flicker of movement caught in the corner of her eye. A stag - not too big, but enough to provide a nightly meal for her hounds, had chosen the wrong place to roam. With practiced ease, Artemis rotated on the very tips of her toes, simultaneously removing an arrow from the quiver strapped across her back. The deadly ivory curve of her bow shone in the moon's light, but would be completed invisible to prey until her arrow hit its target.
The projectile was drawn backward, calling a deathly silence to consume the land surrounding hunter and hunted. A single step forward and the stag had placed itself in direct range of the Huntress' skills. Only a choking second passed between the moment Artemis set her arrow to flight and the moment it pierced clean through her prey's head, bringing the deer helplessly to his knees in a permanent sleep.
Artemis approached the creature in respectful quiet, her head bowed as she knelt to remove her trusted weapon from its skull. She closed her eyes in thanks to the Gods of Creation for the life of the stag that would provide for her hounds, and said a prayer for the soul of the creature, that its death would not be in vain. This was the pure heart and respect that the Huntress was so well known for.
In closing, she slid a delicate hand over the stag's eyes, shutting them as if he were only in a deep sleep. Then she rose to her feet and gave one last loving look to the animal at her feet. A few words slipped from her lips like the calm path of the breeze through the treetops around her. "...Thank you..for living to this day."
